April, 2016 / United States — In April of 2016 Tyler began an assignment for National Geographic that would take him across America by bike, from Washington, D.C. to the west coast of the Olympic Peninsula. Along the way Tyler was struck by a speeding car and spent 50 days recovering from injuries that included broken vertebrae and a severe concussion. After recovering, Tyler got back on the road and completed the journey. The feature, written and photographed by Tyler, was published in a series of eight posts on National Geographic's website.
